Did you know that all children’s sleepwear in the U.S. are required to have flame retardants unless you get the tight-fitting pajamas with a disclaimer on them? How crazy is it to put our precious babies and kids to sleep (sleep is the time that they heal and repair) with toxic chemicals being absorbed through their skin and breathed into their lungs. The most effective way to avoid flame retardants, chemicals, and pesticides is to buy organic kids pajamas and organic bedding.
Chemicals found in flame retardant products have been linked to health and cognitive problems. Why are we allowing our kids and babies to be exposed to these chemicals during the most vulnerable stages of their lives? It doesn’t make much sense.
According to CPSC.gov, The Flammable Fabrics Act was passed in 1953, to regulate the manufacture of highly flammable clothing, such as brushed rayon sweaters and children’s cowboy chaps. You can read more about the full story at BabyList.com.
You can avoid flame retardants by looking for a tag that reads “For child’s safety, garments should fit snugly” or “No flame retardants, wear tight-fitting.”
