Our home is the place we go to rest, renew, and retreat from the outside world. Outside of focusing on nutrition and exercise, this was where we chose to start our low toxic journey. I decided I wanted our home to truly be a sanctuary, minimizing as many toxins as possible and creating a peaceful, inspiring, and healthy environment. For us, we started with things like switching our cookware to cast iron, stainless steel, and ceramic, installing a water filter to make sure the copious amounts of water we were so diligently drinking was free of all the chemicals that come with drinking water and making sure we were opening the windows ten minutes daily to air out our home and let the fresh air in. Unless you live somewhere with poor air quality, our indoor environments are exponentially more toxic than the air outside.
Our home is typically the place where we have the most control over what is around us, so it is also the easiest place to start. And we are exposed to most toxins in our home and in our workplace, which varies greatly depending on the type of work that you do. These are the areas where we spend the most time.
